Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Animal Husbandry Development Minister Dharmpal Singh, while reviewing the updated status of the cow shelters of the state in the office room located in Vidhan Bhavan here, strictly instructed the officials that the veterinary officer should visit the cow shelter in his area twice a week and ensure the best health, medical and medicine arrangements of the cows.
The caretaker should stay at the cow shelter at night and complete the necessary work for the cows smoothly. The nodal officer of the district should regularly inspect the cow shelters and ensure the arrangements of fodder, straw, water, light etc.
The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the Chief Minister of the state is committed to the protection and promotion of destitute cows, therefore the work of setting up cow protection centers should be completed on priority basis and the destitute cows should be protected. For these works, work should be done by establishing coordination with the Rural Development Department and other supporting departments. Multi-year and seasonal fodder should be sown from MNREGA while freeing the pasture land from encroachment.
Singh directed the officials that all the establishment related works should be completed by February 25. The implementing agency should work as per the standard and layout. Full attention should be paid to quality in the infrastructure related works. Cow sheds, drinking water charhai, khadanja etc. should be constructed in a strong and systematic manner. At present, 1208088 destitute cows have been protected at 7589 cow shelters in the state. Immediate improvement should be done in the cow shelters where any complaint regarding disorder or care of cows comes to notice.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department K. Ravindra Nayak apprised the Minister about the latest status of the department’s schemes and assured that compliance of the guidelines received from him will be ensured. The Principal Secretary directed the departmental officers to make adequate arrangements for all the necessary facilities at the cow shelters and to make adequate arrangements for fodder, straw and water. Quality should be taken care of in the infrastructure related works.
